Innovative Learning Grants
Funding Innovative Learning
The San Juan Education Foundation will identify and support programs in science, technology and the arts through a process that funds Innovative Learning Grants and Project Based Learning Grants.
Mini-Grants now available.
Deadline February 26, 2010. Award notification: March 15, 2010.
Individual Learning Grants
Individual Teacher Grants will be awarded to individual teachers or teams of teachers in amounts ranging from $250 to $1,000.
Field Experience Grants ranging from $250 to $1,000 will facilitate education field trips that relate to specific grade-level curricula and support one of the grant program’s three areas of focus: science, technology and the arts. Costs of videoconferencing equipment required for virtual field trips are eligible under this category.
Project Based Learning Grants
These grants focus on collaborative efforts with business and nonprofit entities and will be funded up to $5,000. Grantees are encouraged to participate in training that will be held to share information related to project based learning processes. Although training will be held at a time other than the regular school day, grantees may include the cost of release time to prepare for participation in the summit as part of the project’s budget. It is expected that grantees will share information about their project with individual teachers or teams of teachers at their school site, and will assist those teachers with implementing their own activities if requested.
The Foundation will seek opportunities for partnerships with local businesses. Participating businesses will make their employees available for classroom mentoring, enriching the educational experience with real-world expertise.
Teacher Application for Grants
As a requirement of the project based learning grant application process grantees must attend a grant writing workshop prior to submission of their application. These workshops will be provided by the foundation. Applicants may attend any one of the following training dates: May 11th at 4:00 PM or May 18th at 7:00 PM. All trainings are scheduled at the district office, in the Ed Services Conference room. Applicants who submit an application without attending one of these training dates will not have their application read by the foundation.
