The appetizer competition and restaurant experience was definitely eye opening. It increased my interest in the culinary arts field. Being able to present a dish to the Dining Divas was amazing. The kitchen staff at Mulvaney's were amazing. Not only did they teach us, they also helped us understand the restaurant business.

The STARS Event at Mulvaney's was amazing. Even though I didn't place, I still learned a lot and I was an awesome experience. I also enjoyed working with my CEO and serving dinner for his table. My biggest surprise of the night was that I discovered that I like bell peppers.

Rachel Ferrell - 2nd Place!
Walking into Mulvaney's, I felt destined for failure since I had missed the Friday night training. Leaving I felt like a champ. I didn't realize how nervous I would be in front of the Dining Divas until we were presenting our creation. Thankfully, my partner Mark was amazing. Working with him was a lot of fun.

Before I went to Mulvaney's I was expecting something completely different. I was stoked to be in a professional kitchen working with professionals. I learned a lot in the short time that I was there which made it an overall fun experience. My appetizer was a slice of baguette with a tomato, basil and goat cheese spread topped with half of a prawn that had been cooked with shallots and glazed with lime. I was disappointed that I didn't place but happy to see my friends win so it was satisfying. I was a little intimidated to serve the Dining divas and cooking with someone I had never met before was a challenge.

Who ever thought that I would be a member of the 1st Place winning team' At first, I didn't think that we would finish within the time frame. My partner, Michelle Wong, had all of the confidence in the world and having her as my partner was an amazing experience for me. When I was stressing out, she was confident and upbeat. I think that is part of why we won. Our appetizer was blue cheese, bacon, tomatoes, basil, shallots, and garlic wrapped into phyllo dough triangles and then baked. The staff at Mulvaney's were so helpful. No matter what my request, it was always granted. I enjoyed meeting the Dining Divas and having them judge my appetizers. Serving at Michelle's table was also a valuable experience. The event was a learning experience for me.

For me, Mulvaney's was an amazing experience. The 'Iron Chef' competition was challenging but fun because I could create my own recipe. My finished appetizer was garlic toast with avocado, tomatoes, basil and mushroom with melted goat cheese on top. I was an honor to have the Dining Divas judge my work. Winning 3rd place was great. If I had the opportunity, I would definitely do it again.
